Exercises for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel is a syndrome that affects many people. It causes numbness in fingers and hands, which may extend to the wrist. Exercises to try
There are several exercises for carpal tunnel syndrome that can help in relieving the pain or numbness quickly. Following are a few:
- Shaking the hand out: When your hand becomes numb or tingling begins, try shaking your hand so it may start the blood flow. This will reduce the pain and also ease your hand from numbness.
- Making a fist: Making a fist when your hand becomes numb and then releasing the fingers and stretching them as far as you can work to manage numbness and pain. You can also shake your fingers after making a fist. Repeating it 5 to 10 times increases the blood flow, and the hand becomes better.
- Stretches: When hand feels numb, a little stretch can make it better. Hold your arm in front of you with the palm facing upward. Stretch your fingers down and with the other hand, pull them towards your body. Hold it for 15 seconds. Then put your palm downward and pull your fingers towards your body, hold it for 15 seconds. Repeat the exercise 5 to 10 times.
- Wrist resistance: Rest your palm on the table facing it down and put the other palm on top of it so that it makes a plus. Try lifting the first hand but stopping it with the top hand. This will create a stretch in your wrist.
- Hold a soft rubber ball in your hand. Squeeze it for few seconds and release it. Repeat it ten times.
